I wanted to go to Eastern ever since I was 9 or 10 years old. My mother graduated from Eastern. My Father taught Health/PE and was the basketball coach at Eastern (Mr. Cannon). I still remember now as if it was yesterday all of the Interhigh basketball and football games I went to. Eastern playing in large arenas in front of thousands of screaming fans and the cheerleaders, ohhh, the cheerleaders! I had not seen anything like it! When I graduated from junior high in Maryland (Pullen Jr), I told my parents I wanted to go to Eastern (My grandmother lived in Langston Terrace and I could live with her and help around the house). They said no (period). I went to Crossland High and played on the basketball team my first year. I asked again the next year and again they said no. My senior year they gave in and, finally, I got to go to the school I had dreamed about going to all along. By now, my basketball skills were much improved. I was, also, confident in my abilites on the court because of playing with and against the best players in the metro area at various basketball camps and summer leagues.
